The worst commercial nuclear accident in U.S. history happened at a nuclear power plant on Three Mile Island in central Pennsylvania almost 40 years ago. There were no victims in the March 1979 accident – all local residents were successfully evacuated. But the catastrophe forced the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to review safety norms in a move that changed the American nuclear power industry. VOA’s Lesya Bakalets has more.
