U.S. President Donald Trump says he would not intervene if his acting attorney general Matthew Whitaker decides to curtail a special counsel investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Democrats in Congress are determined to keep Robert Mueller’s probe on track as long as necessary to determine if there was any collusion between Trump’s election campaign and Russia to help him win the presidency.
