The next round of the Afghanistan government’s peace talks with the Taliban is scheduled to begin in Doha, Qatar, June 29. The government sees the discussions as an initial step to end Afghanistan’s long war. But journalists and rights activists in Afghanistan are expressing grave concerns about the impact the outcome will have on freedom of the press and free speech.
